Too Faced Natural Eye Review and Looks

So the boy and I just got back from a pretty spiffy weekend trip to "NorCal" (that's Northern Cali to you lay-peeps =) ) during which we spent almost the entire weekend outside! The weather was perfect too, not too hot, not too cool, sunny and clear the whole time... and of course, being the first weekend spent outdoors in months, I committed my annual faux pas of forgetting to put on sunscreen. It's like clockwork, I do it every year, in my joy to be outside for the first time when the weather finally gets nice,  the sunscreen goes by the wayside. Why, you may ask, is this a concern, as I am Indian, and Indian people don't get sunburned? Well, my friends, I happen to be possibly the only Indian person on the planet that actually has to deal with sunburn. Clearly, the sun has seemed to overlook the fact that I AM, IN FACT, BROWN-SKINNED, and chooses to roast me anyway. Luckily the sun up there isn't as strong as what I usually deal with, so this time I'm just left with a nice "rosy" (aka mauve) glow across my nose and cheeks. Good times. My own fault, I know, you'd think I'd learn by now. Anyway, that just means that for the next few days I'm going to have to give up a few extra minutes of precious sleep in the morning to spend covering up the enthusiastically flushed look I'm rocking right now and replace it with a more demure one.

Anyway, I digress. So, on to the actual topic of this post. This is yet another eyeshadow palette that I picked up longer ago than I care to think about (and one I've been promising reviews for since forever, I know), but hey, late is better than never right? =) So here we go...

Too Faced Natural Eye
Eyeshadow Palette

This is what it comes with:

Sample of Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Eyeshadow Primer

Inside the Compact!

"Look" Cards

Nine eyeshadows

The palette is broken up into three "looks" (Day, Classic, and Fashion), and the cards describe how to achieve each of these looks. In my looks below I've mostly stuck to the colors for that look, but I haven't necessarily stuck to the way the look cards describe (figured I'd shake stuff up a bit!)

So here we go....

The "Day" look:
  • Heaven - Matte off-white
  • Velvet Revolver - Matte beige
  • Sexpresso (great names, I know) - Matte deep brown

For this look I used/did the following:
  • Heaven from lash line to brow
  • Velvet Revolver from lash line to crease
  • Sexpresso blended into crease and winged out slightly - this color starts out pretty light but can be built up to the desired darkness
  • Sexpresso in eyebrows (spur of the moment decision, it worked really well!)
  • Too Faced Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Brown on upper lash line
  • Too Faced Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Black on lower lash line
  • Too Faced (noticing a pattern here??) Size Queen Mascara in Black on lashes
The "Classic" look:
  • Silk Teddy - Shimmery pale pink (very pale, almost can't tell it's pink when it's on)
  • Push-Up - Shimmery medium brown
  • Erotica - Shimmery deep green-brown

For this look I used/did the following:
  • Velvet Revolver from lash line to brow
  • Push-Up from lash line to crease
  • Erotica blended into crease - this color goes on way lighter than it looks like it would, so it really needs to be built up
  • Silk Teddy as highlight in inner corners/tear ducts
  • Sexpresso in eyebrows
  • Too Faced Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Moss on upper lash line
  • Too Faced Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Black on lower lash line
  • Too Faced Size Queen Mascara in Black on lashes
The "Fashion" look (ugh, sorry for bad pic quality, it had gotten dark so I had to resort to bathroom lighting):
  • Nude Beach - Chunky gold glitter (caution!! very chunky!!)
  • Honey Pot - Shimmery gold
  • Cocoa Puff - Shimmery deep brown

For this look I used/did the following:
  • Heaven from lash line to brow
  • Honey Pot from lash line to crease
  • Cocoa Puff blended into crease
  • Nude Beach on tear ducts/inner corners
  • Sexpresso in eyebrows
  • Too Faced Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Black on lower lash line
  • Too Faced Size Queen Mascara in Black on lashes
Annnd my own look... ever so slightly more dramatic, but with this palette pretty much any look will end up looking pretty soft and natural (haha sorry about all the fallout on my eyelashes!!).

For this look I used/did the following:
  • Velvet Revolver from lash line to brow
  • Honey Pot from lash line to crease
  • Silk Teddy on inner third of lid from lash line to crease
  • Erotica blended into crease in inner corner
  • Cocoa puff blended into outer crease
  • Sexpresso blended into very outer edge of outer crease (just to accentuate a little more)
  • Sexpresso in eyebrows
  • Too Faced Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Black on lower lash line
  • Too Faced Size Queen Mascara in Black on lashes
So in conclusion...

Pros:

  • Perfect shades for every day office wear
  • Shadows are well pigmented but the shades still go on very soft
  • Colors can be built up to a more dramatic look
  • Blending is really easy, especially with TFSI primer; minimal creasing
Cons:
  • Not much really! It does take a little bit of doing (and patience) to build up the color to something significant/dramatic. Then again, this isn't generally a palette I'd use for dramatic looks if I had other ones available.
So did you notice that I did this whole review with Too Faced products?? I was actually wearing Too Faced lipstick too, just doesn't show up in any of these pics.  =) That is how much I am loving this brand these days.

Overall, I'd give this palette two thumbs up! It's actually become one of my two go-to palettes for every day use (the other being the Smashbox Eye Trio in Quick Take). It's super easy to throw on some color and blend it out in about 1.5 minutes in the morning, and the colors immediately (yet subtly) make your eyes pop and look so much brighter!

What do you guys think? Anyone interested in this palette?

Hope everyone has a good weekend! I, for one, am leaving on a jet plane... but NOT for work, yay!! Going to visit my bro and sis-in-law and spend some time with my adorable baby niece. =) Can't wait!!!
