Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Black |
Yep, you guessed it (and if you looked on the Favorites page you totally cheated!! ;-) ). Too Faced is rapidly becoming my favorite cosmetic brand. So far, I've had amazing results with their mascara, eye shadow (reviews to come!!), and as you can see above, their eyeliner.
Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner has the creamiest texture of any pencil eyeliner I've come across. I actually discovered it entirely by accident, too. I had gone to Ulta with a friend, and having just purchased the Smashbox Limitless pencil eyeliner the day before, I wasn't in the market for another black eyeliner until I had given that one a try. I was, however, toying with the idea of getting a navy pencil, since I'd never tried any shades of blue eyeliner before. So, I idly picked up a tester of the one that happened to be closest to me - which, of course, was Too Faced Perfect Eyes in Perfect Navy - and tried it on. I was surprised at how easily the color glided on, and how deeply pigmented it was. I pretty much assumed that it was going to come right off though, as any of the creamier-formula eye pencils I had tried before that always did.
Imagine my surprise when I looked at myself in the mirror much later that evening to see that the eyeliner hadn't budged, and there wasn't a smidge out of place. Not only had it not moved, I could barely even get it off with eye makeup remover!! I eventually gave up and went to bed, and the next morning it was still on. The eyeliner that will stick with you (and to you!!) forever. Needless to say, that sealed the deal. That very morning I went and bought the Perfect Navy pencil, and bought Perfect Black very soon after that.
And after that, Perfect Brown.... and after that, Perfect Moss.... yes, I think we can all agree I have a problem.
I have to say, I haven't been disappointed with any of the colors. They all have the same rich pigmentation, the same creamy texture, and the same staying power. I do tend to use black much more than the others (it's my kajal, after all - see how short it is compared to the others?? Haha!!), but I do enjoy using the other colors to complement my eyeshadow from time to time, especially on the upper lash line. Perfect Navy is a deep dark blue, Perfect Brown is, well, brown (they have a darker version called Perfect Espresso as well if you think brown is too light), and Perfect Moss is a really pretty dark green with some subtle gold shimmer.

Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner
Pros:
- Very creamy texture that glides on easily
- Highly pigmented formula
- Serious staying power!! Not for the faint of heart!!
Cons:
- There's only one I can think of, and it's that the pencils require sharpening ALL THE TIME. The super creamy texture means that it gets used up really fast. I pretty much have to sharpen them after every use, especially if I use them for both upper and lower lash lines. But I say, get yourself a good sharpener and have at it!! They're worth it!!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Perversion |
I have to say, this one gave Too Faced a run for its money. In some ways I liked it better - the formula is even creamier and allows for smoother application, and it's just as richly pigmented. It doesn't quite have the staying power of Too Faced, though, and in my experience, it tends to smudge a bit more. UD does have a much wider range of colors, though, and I will definitely be experimenting with some of the ones that Too Faced doesn't have. :-)
I think for now, I've pretty much written off cream/gel eyeliners, at least the ones that are currently in the market. Neither the MAC Fluidline or Revlon Colorstay gel liners had the staying power of Too Faced or UD, and their application is so much more involved and time consuming. They don't sit very well on the waterline either, unlike L'Oreal HIP Cream Eyeliner. Not to mention that I really don't miss getting eyeliner all over my contacts anymore. I'll be using gel eyeliners every once in a while from now on for the dramatic effect, but for every day, I think my heart is set on Too Faced. :-)
